US Connectivity

Currently EuropaNET has three US lines: Another T1 will be added shortly between Amsterdam and New York

EuroCAIRN: High Speed for Europe

Fancy European Games :-)

A new line is needed between Amsterdam and Duesseldorf. As international leased lines are much more expensive than national leased lines covering the same distance, we decided to not buy an international ciruit, but a national circuit to the border (Amsterdam - Maastricht), which leads via a cheaper international line into Aachen.

2 Mbps lines, annual cost:
Amsterdam - Maastricht - Aachen:
ca. 515,000 US$
Amsterdam - Dusseldorf:
ca. 709,000 US$
For Comparison:
Amsterdam-Washington:
618,000 US$
Geneva-Washington (T1):
705,000 US$

Stan Barber's Notes

DANTE organized international connectivity and connectivity to the US for the European Research Networks.

An aggregated of 8Mb/sec is planned for connections for DANTE to New York. There is also an E1 and a T1 link that connects to Washington at MAE-EAST and ICM.
