Proposal C - Concurrent Membership on Mailing List and Program Committees

Summary

Removes the restriction that prevents a person from serving concurrently on both the Program Committee and Mailing List Committee.

Amendment Text

1. If [the amendment specfied in Proposal B] does not pass: in the first paragraph of section 7.1.2, remove the text "either the Program Committee or".

2. If [the amendment specfied in Proposal B] does pass: in the first paragraph of section 7.3, remove the text "either the Program Committee or".

Rationale

The following message was received:

I would like to propose a change of section 7.1.2 of the NANOG charter. The change would allow a member of the Program Committee to serve on the Mailing List Committee (and vice-versa) simultaneously.

Discussion Points

• The revised paragraph would read:

  The NANOG lists will be administered and minimally moderated by the Mailing List Committee, all but one of whom is selected by the Steering Committee. Merit appoints the member of the Mailing List Committee not appointed by the Steering Committee. There will be no fewer than four members on the list administration committee, and they may not serve as members of either the Program Committee or the Steering Committee during their time as members of the Mailing List Committee.
