The NANOG mailing list provides a lively forum for announcements and discussion of topics of interest to the network operations community. There are three options for participating:

1. READ the NANOG List
   If you would like to read the NANOG list but do not wish to post messages to the list, subscribe by sending e-mail to majordomo@merit.edu. Use 'subscribe nanog' (without the quotes) as the text of the message.

   To unsubscribe, send e-mail to the same address, and use only the word 'unsubscribe nanog' (without the quotes) as the text of the message.

   To start a subscription to the list on behalf of someone else, send your request to nanog-support@nanog.org or follow the instructions above and use the following as the text of the message:

    subscribe nanog [e-mail address] 

   where "e-mail address" is the address of the person you're adding.

2. POST to the NANOG List
   If you would like to post messages to the NANOG list, you must join the NANOG-POST list. To subscribe to NANOG-POST, send e-mail to majordomo@merit.edu . with 'subscribe nanog-post' (without the quotes) as the text of the message. You will receive a confirmation request, and once answered, you will be able to post to the NANOG mailing list.

   Once you subscribe to NANOG-POST, you will also need to subscribe to the NANOG list.

   To unsubscribe, send e-mail to the same address, and use only the word 'unsubscribe nanog-post' (without the quotes) as the text of the message.

3. NANOG-ANNOUNCE List for Meeting Announcements
   If you do not wish to read the general messages posted to the NANOG list, but only want to receive notifications from Merit about upcoming NANOG meetings, join the NANOG-ANNOUNCE mailing list. To subscribe, send mail to majordomo@merit.edu with 'subscribe nanog-announce' (without the quotes) as the text of the message.

4. NANOG-Digest List
   For those who prefer not to receive individual copies of each message sent to the NANOG list, the digest combines multiple NANOG mailings into a single message that is delivered once a day or every few days, depending on traffic volume. To subscribe, send e-mail to majordomo@merit.edu. Use only the words 'subscribe nanog-digest" (without the quotes) as the text of the message.

To subscribe to NANOG-futures, send mail to majordomo@merit.edu with 'subscribe nanog-futures' (without the quotes) as the text of the message. To unsubscribe, send e-mail to the same address, and use only the words 'unsubscribe nanog-futures' as the text of the message.
