NANOG Network's Responsibilties - North American Network Operators Group





  1. NANOG will supply address blocks (5 class C's) for the wireless, multicast/webcast, and IPv6 networks (See network diagram)

  2. Provide and operate the DNS server and DHCP server available on the attendee network.

  3. Provide all Ethernet hubs and switches for the network risers, general session meeting room, break-out spaces, network operations center, Beer n Gear banquet room, along with other public areas as designated.

    • The domain name for the meeting will be nanog.merit.net.

  4. Design and set up the wireless network. Provide wireless cards for attendees. Provision a network feed to the lobby/lounge area for the wireless network, and work with the hotel to find areas where the wireless net can be set up easily.

  5. Supply or rent all A/V equipment, including cameras, screens, microphones, etc.

  6. Design and set-up equipment to webcast and multicast source which will be addressed from a /26.

  7. Provide the multicast broadcast (tunnel or native if available).

  8. Provide IPv6 addressing and tunnel if necessary.

  9. If required an authentication gateway will be provided.

  10. Provide networks statistics collection.

  11. Provide lobby display.

  12. Provide computers and printers for attendee use.

  13. Arrange overnight security for the main meeting room.
