NANOG Mail List Committee (MLC)


The NANOG Mail List Committee comprises of six community volunteers: David Barak, Martin Hannigan, Sue Joiner, Aleksandr Pilosov, Brett Watson and Tim Yocum. Aleksandr Pilosov is our Chair. David Barak, Callisma/AT&T David Barak is a senior consultant for Callisma, AT&T's consulting arm, specializing in large scale and unusual network environments, and serving as the lead internetworking SME for the Washington DC office. David has also held positions with AT&T Government Solutions, UUNet/MCI, and ServInt Internet Services. He was one of the authors of the 2005 NANOG charter, and has served on the board of directors of a nonprofit organization for the past 4 years. Additionally, he is a founding member of The Franchise, a DC-based geek-rock band.
Martin Hannigan Martin Hannigan is a Management Consultant for a large ILEC in the Caribbean portion of the ARIN region. His responsibilities include providing internal support and architecture, engineering and operations review, and participating in both the regional and global Internet community. He also works with a number of venture funds evaluating new technology business proposals and helping to remove roadblocks to their success.

Martin has held a number of executive and senior technical positions at companies including Verisign, Renesys, The World, InterNap, Cignal Global Communications, Level(3) Communications, Microsoft, Bose Corporation, and the USG. As a founding member of the Boston Internet Special Interest Group, he's been evangelizing public internet access as far back as 1989 in North America.
Sue Joiner, Merit Network Sue Joiner, the owner of the NANOG list since 1998 and is the voting Merit representative. She has been providing network and A/V support at NANOG meetings since NANOG 18, and has been a member of Merit's system administration group since 1996. In the latter role, Sue handles Usenet news and the MichNet Squid cache in addition to her postmaster duties. Prior to joining the Merit sysadmins, Sue supported the NSFNET Regional-Techs meetings that preceded NANOG in the early 90's, and served as business manager for Merit's CONDUIT project, strengthening ties between Michigan's small businesses and community colleges. She holds an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Schoolcraft College.
Aleksandr Pilosov (Chair) Alex Pilosov is a President of Pilosoft Inc, where he is leading a regional facilities-based network operator in the New York City area. He is responsible for managing both network operations and engineering teams. Alex frequently contributes to various open source projects as well as NANOG lightning talks on exotic wavelength division multiplexing systems. Previously, Alex consulted and managed software development projects at a number of Wall Street firms. He is currently PhD candidate in Computer Science at Polytechnic University.
Brett Watson, Neustar Brett Watson has 18 years experience in large-scale IP networking, optical networking, and network security and vulnerability assessments. Brett helped deploy and maintain the original MCI and Genuity IP backbones, and designed the first metropolitan IP-over-Gigibit Ethernet product for Metromedia Fiber Networks. Brett has spent the last few years performing custom network and vulnerability assessments, and consulting on information security issues for some of the largest healthcare, water, and power companies in the United States. Brett most recently worked for Internet Systems Consortium's DNS Operations, Analysis, and Research Center (DNS OARC) doing macroscopic analysis of global DNS behavior. Brett currently works for Neustar (formerly UltraDNS) as a product manager for external services (such as Managed DNS, Sitebacker, Recursive DNS, etc).
Tim Yocum, Server Central Network Tim Yocum is a director at Server Central Network where he oversees systems engineering and operations staff. He has over 10 years of experience in systems design, implementation, and security. Prior to Server Central he has held a number of senior technical positions at large corporations including Playboy Enterprises as well as network engineering positions at service providers Verio and WorldWide Access. He has been attending NANOG meetings both in-person and online since 1998.
