Sunday Activities

Welcome to NANOG! Sunday's activities begin at 2 p.m. with (optional) tutorials, followed by a 5:45 p.m. NANOG Community Meeting (where committee reports are given and the community can ask questions of the committee chairs and Merit Network--the organization that coordinates all NANOG meetings.)

Monday - Wednesday Activities

Please plan to attend the Newcomers' Continental Breakfast on Monday at 8:30 a.m. in Salon J. Continental breakfast will also be available in the Grand Ballroom Foyer. Monday's General Session will start at 9:30 a.m. A copy of the abbreviated meeting agenda is included with your name badge, and a complete agenda can be found at http://nanog.org/meetings/nanog48/agenda.php. Slides for all General Session talks will be linked off the agenda page just prior to the talk. The General Sessions are Monday and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The various concurrent breakouts (tutorials, tracks, and informal BOFs) are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Approximately two weeks after the meeting a copy of the recorded presentations will be placed on the meeting website.

Monday Evening
  • From 6:00-8:00 p.m. is the Beer 'n Gear. It's a time to socialize with attendees and with engineers from sponsoring companies, who are there to answer your questions and hear your comments. Enjoy the beer, wine, and appetizers provided by the sponsors.

  • From 8:15 -11:00 p.m. There is an optional offsite social hosted by Data Foundry and Giganews at Cedar Street Courtyard, 208 West 4th Street (a short walking distance from the Hilton).

Tuesday Evening
  • Tuesday afternoon there will be informal BOF's. Sign-up sheets will be located by NANOG registration.

  • From 7:00-10:00 p.m. There is an optional offsite social hosted by Equinix at Maggie Mae's, 323 East 6th Street (a short walking distance from the Hilton).

Public Workstations

You'll find two public workstations and a printer by the NANOG registration desk.

Wireless Network

If the wireless network isn't up yet, it will be shortly. The main wireless network SSID is "nanog". A separate SSID, "nanog-a", is provided for users with devices equipped with 802.11a radios. Finally, a third SSID, "nanog-1x", is available to provide an encrypted wireless connection using 802.1x authentication and WPA2 AES encryption. All networks provide dual stack IPv4/IPv6 support. For information about the wireless network, check the instruction sheet at the registration desk.

Committee Members

The Steering Committee, Program Committee and NANOG List Administrators can be identified by the color of their name badge:
  • Steering Committee - blue
  • Program Committee - yellow
  • List Administrators - red
  • Merit Staff - purple
