NANOG Community to Meet in Spring 2011 for NANOG52

NANOG52 is drawing near! Thanks to the outstanding job of the Program Committee, this meeting will feature tutorials, tracks sessions, and highlight issues relating to technology already deployed or soon-to-be deployed in the Internet. Vendors have been encouraged to work with operators to present real-world deployment experiences with vendor products and further explore interoperability issues.

As the community is making its final travel arrangements to meet in Denver, those attending NANOG52 will once again enjoy a great program with topics that include:

General Sessions

General Sessions will begin each day, starting on Monday, June 13, 2011 through Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Each day the General Session begins at 9:30 am mountain time.

Afternoon Sessions will begin each day, starting on Sunday, June 12, 2011 through Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Each day the Afternoon Session generally begins at 1:30 pm mountain time.

If you are New to NANOG or Attending Your First Meeting?

If this is your first NANOG Meeting, you are encouraged to attend the Monday, June 13th Newcomer breakfast. A number of operators and members of the NANOG Community will be on hand to share their experience and help you in getting to know our community.

Membership Activities

In appreciation for your NANOG membership, you are cordially invited to a social outing with colleagues and friends of the NANOG Membership community. Come and join us in this unique event open only to members and their invited guests. Be a part of the first of what we foresee as a traditional event for NANOG Members.

Family Activity Planning - coordinated by Heather Schiller. Anyone interested in a Saturday day trip, there is lots to do; aquarium, children's museum, nature and science center, all about 10 minutes away from the hotel.

Rock climbing - coordinated by Jared Mauch A group rock climbing trip is being planned, perhaps to Eldorado Canyon, if there are people interested.

Members White Water Rafting Adventure

Who: NANOG members and their invited guests
What: A whitewater rafting outing to Denver Clear Creek for a beginner level (Class II and Class III) rafting.
When: Saturday, June 11th 2011 from 1:30pm - 7:30pm
Where: Bus pickup will be in front of the Downtown Sheraton (Conference Hotel)
Cost: The total cost for members is $95 per person (assuming a group of 5 or more). This is a full-service trip and includes guide, raft rentals, life jackets, food, and transportation to and from the Sheraton hotel.

The Evening Community Meeting, Sunday, June 12, 2011 - an excellent opportunity for everyone to hear from the NANOG Board of Directors. Information about the continued evolution and future of NANOG will be discussed.

ARIN Activities

The American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN) will present an update on recent routing and policy discussions held during ARIN meetings.

Call for Program Committee Participation

NANOG meetings provide an excellent forum for people from the network research community, the network operator community and the network vendor community to come together to identify and solve the problems that arise in operating and growing the Internet. The exchange of information about new and on-going work in the NANOG community is promoted through the work of the Program Committee, which has responsibility for creating the main program at each meeting. The Program Committee is charged with developing the Call for Proposals and the subsequent evaluation and selection of NANOG meeting track sessions. In an effort to stimulate discussion and ideas for meeting topics, you are encourage to seek out members of the Program Committee and share your ideas.
