Brazilian Internet Exchange Update

Reinaldo Penno Filo, Nortel/Shasta

The Brazilian Internet Exchange (BIX) has existed for several years, but only last year, due to the efforts of the Brazilian Engineering Steering Group and the Internet explosion in Brazil, have ISPs shown interest in connecting. The BIX is a public exchange supported by the Brazilian goverment and the Academic Network at Sao Paulo. It has nine members now, and four are in the process of establishing a connection.
