Encapsulation
- OSPF runs on top of IP
- Traditional IP routing protocol approach
- Allows virtual links (if you like them)
- Relies on IP fragmentation for large LSAs
- Subject to spoofing and DoS attacks (use of authentication is strongly advised)
- Allows use of ATM VCmux encapsulation (so TCP acks fit in one ATM cell)
