About the Presenters
Eric Aupperle was President of Merit Network
from 1988 to 2001, and is now the organization's President Emeritus.
From 1987-1995, he led the NSFNET partnership with IBM, MCI, and the
Michigan Strategic Fund, which re-engineered and managed the nation.s
first high-speed backbone network. Eric received a B.S.E. in Electrical
Engineering, a B.S.E. in Mathematics, and an M.S.E. in Nuclear Engineering
from the University of Michigan.
Susan Harris coordinates NANOG meetings and is Senior Science Writer at Merit Network at the University of Michigan. She has been working in IT for 20 years, mostly in telecommunications and network engineering. Before discovering computers she spent her time reading Babylonian contracts and earning a Ph.D. in ancient Near Eastern History at the University of Michigan.
