NETCONF is an effort within the IETF to provide a programmatic interface to network elements. The protocol is being designed with numerous operational models in mind. This talk will focus on current development status and raise several questions that are relevent to the operator community. Current information on NETCONF can be found at http://ops.ietf.org/netconf.
