Abstract: Using In-bailiwick Nameservers

Masato Minda, JPRS

In June 2004, the JP TLD changed the way it handles DNS glue records. Although the change was technically correct, some domains encountered difficulties in name resolution. Investigation revealed that the problems were caused by old BIND implementations and by the way nameservers were configured. This presentation explains the problem with the old BIND implementations and recommends a method for configuring nameservers.
