Introduction to MEDs
The MULTI_EXIT_DISCRIMINATOR, or MED, is a BGP attribute used to:
- Describe internal network topology.
- Pass on this topology to external peers.
A smaller knob than others, like local-pref or as-path padding.
Major problem - no inter-provide consistency on MED semantics.
