- This is the supermarket solution -- add more check-outs and do parallel processing
- Still have scheduling/fairness issues per check-out
- In a router, congestion may occur at a single logical output
- While packets can be processed in parallel, competing packets may be directed out a single interface
In supermarket land, this is roughly the same thing as “adding more bandwidth”
- Lending to the belief that “more bandwidth” fixes congestion problems
