First-Come First-Served(The Supermarket technique)

• Algorithm:

  • First packet in is first packet out, others queue behind

• Achievements:

  • Works great if there’s no congestion

• Concerns:

  • Innately unfair
  • “Hog” flows can steal virtually 100% of available bandwidth
  • No immunity from other flows
  • Impossible to guarantee bandwidth or delay definitions
