Abstract: In the late 90's, there was much excitement and exuberance over the potential of Internet Multicast. Today, interest in Internet Multicast is perhaps at an all-time low despite the fact that it may be more useful than ever. In this presentation, we will examine a brief history of Internet Multicast and what went wrong in the past. We will look at new tools like Automatic Multicast Tunneling (AMT) that are now available to address the fundamental issues that made deployment so challenging in the past. We will also discuss why Internet Multicast is better positioned than ever to meet its potential to deliver disruptive content - and how you may already be using it and not know it.
