This course is developed to teach the theory and practices behind designing a reliable and stable network.  In addition, the course addresses best practices and techniques for troubleshooting and maintenance of these networks ensuring practical and reliable routing fundamentals are applied.

The course is outlined in seven-parts that include both lecture and hands-on experiences to ensure attendees gain the full grasp of the concepts discussed.  The course outline is as follows:

  • The OSI Model
  • Lab 1: build the basic OSPF network
  • Principles of routing – Lab 2:  build basic iBGP with route-reflection
  • BGP in detail – Lab 3: build eBGP peering with basic policy
  • Routing policy in detail
  • Peering Negotiations
  • Lab 4: Build the negotiated network

Routing Fundamentals Instructor

David Barak

David Barak who is a Principal Architect for AT&T Consulting teaches routing Fundamentals.  In his role at AT&T, David is responsible for design, implementation, and remediation of large and complex secure unicast and multicast networks of AT&T commercial and government customers.  He routinely provides NOC-level training in routing, ipsec, and multicast.  Prior to AT&T, he worked at UUNet in both the support and training departments.

Price and Registration: 

Each class includes a full day of instruction, lunch, snacks and a sponsored evening social where you can mingle with Internet industry veterans.

Price also includes access to the first day of NANOG 62 which takes place on October 6-8, 2014 and will offer a great opportunity to network with colleagues, freshen-up skills, learn advanced networking techniques, and discover new network applications.
