About the Hackathon Committee
The Hackathon Committee is responsible for the planning and execution of NANOG’s Hackathon events.
In keeping with NANOG’s educational mission, a NANOG Hackathon is a venue for network professionals at all skill levels to learn about network automation, software development, and other related topics, by providing meeting space (in-person and virtual), lab resources, and mentors to allow participants to work individually or as teams on specified or self-directed projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Committee will have the following responsibilities in alignment with NANOG’s strategic plan:
- Determine the hackathon event format (within constraints specified by the Board)
- Determine a theme for each hackathon event
- Develop suggested projects, possibly including directed prompts, for participants
- Develop tutorial materials as appropriate
- Manage the lab environment for participants
- Work with NANOG staff on identifying sponsorship opportunities and procuring appropriate sponsors
